Trish Daswaney on Kohl Kreatives

We're delighted to be working alongside Kohl Kreatives, the makeup tool and aid brand that's breaking down boundaries. We talk to Trish, director at Kohl Kreatives.

What brought you to working with us?

Our products are designed for disabled people with an array of different needs. We want to foster as many honest partnerships as possible to create awareness, and make sure that those who buy our products can find a community that uses them. The MS Society has always been so receptive to supporting their global community, and we’re lucky to be in touch.

What's been your biggest challenge since setting up Kohl Kreatives?

The challenge with us is the evolution of inclusion, no one’s disability is the same. So, when trying to develop new products we'll always try and be honest about who and how people can use them, while keeping them sustainable too. We always strive to involve new markets, and new communities in this journey, and as products evolve so do our strategies.

And your biggest triumph?

There’s no one sole big triumph, there have been many. But my favourite thing is when people have done one of our workshops and left happy!

Why did you want to create accessible makeup tools?

We started as free workshops, that were designed to support people to look and feel whole and complete in their own skin. The more workshops we ran the more we realised different people have different grips or ways to make makeup work. We saw that sometimes the biggest barrier was the makeup tools. I decided that this didn't need to be the case and worked on developing our inclusive tools that you see today.

Are there any bloggers or content creators you'd recommend for makeup and styling tips?

I follow so many, but some of my favourites on Instagram are @slaywithsparkle, @fashioneyesta2012, @simplyemmablog - just to name a few!

What are your three top tips for makeup and styling?

  1. Express yourself. That’s the best part about makeup - you can be bold, mellow, neutral or extra!
  2. Have fun with it. Makeup is like therapy, and I always think it should be a pleasure not a chore.
  3. Document your products. I sometimes love a combination and forget what I did, so I now take a picture of my messy table every time I get ready with the finished look!
