Having the leadership of a strong and effective Board is fundamental to our success. And listening to what matters most to our community is vital to the impact we deliver.

We’re looking for people with substantial marketing and fundraising experience to join our Board of Trustees. Trustees play a critical role in setting our strategic direction, supporting and challenging the Executive Group, and setting and upholding our values and culture.
We’re also recruiting council chairs in England, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Our national councils provide a voice for people affected by MS throughout each nation of the UK, acting as an ambassador for our cause and an advocate for our community, and helping to deliver our strategy and national plans.

We fund world-leading scientists as they search for new treatments. We make sure everyone can access expert information and services to help them live well with MS. We speak up together, to make sure everyone’s voice is heard and rights are protected. We support one another when times are tough and celebrate together when they are good. We make sure no one has to feel alone.
Together we’re a community of people living with MS, friends, families, carers, scientists, researchers, healthcare professionals, campaigners, and volunteers.
Last year we spent over £23 million on delivering impact for our MS community throughout the UK - a huge achievement given the impact of the pandemic on our financial position.
The MS Society in 2021
From the beginning of 2020, the pandemic has disrupted every part of our lives. As an organisation, we’ve seen huge changes to the way we work together, and an unprecedented impact on our financial position.
During the pandemic, we’ve stood shoulder to shoulder with our community. We harnessed the power and opportunity of digital technology to connect and support people, and made sure their voices were heard. It’s crucial we don’t lose this momentum. We want to engage with and be able to support more people, and to know them better. And to be a truly inclusive MS community, we need to reach groups that are under supported and underrepresented in our work.
In 2021, we’ll launch our new engagement offer to help us reach many more people and enable everyone to get the information they want and need from us in a way that works for them. And we’ll support our colleagues and volunteers to embrace our culture and values, and ways of working that nurture diversity, inclusion and engagement.
We’ve never been closer to stopping MS than we are today. In 2021, we’ll continue the public phase of our Stop MS Appeal to raise £100 million for MS research. And we’ll launch Octopus, our world-first clinical trials platform that will test several drugs at once to speed up identification of those that slow or reverse disease progression.
We’re working with our community to co-produce new services and support, driven by what matters most to them at every stage of development. And we’re stepping up how we influence MS services provided by the NHS and others so everyone can access the services they need.
We know we’re stronger when we collaborate with others who share our vision. We’re exploring strategic partnerships that will help us maximise our impact and make best use of our resources.
All this and more stands in front of us as we rebuild over the next few years. It’s a big task. But together, the MS community is a unique and powerful force for positive change. Join us. And together, we will stop MS.
