Brief guide to benefits

The benefits system is complex, and the rules change. So even if you’ve looked into it before, it's worth checking again.

Sometimes grants are available to help cover costs. Some local MS Society groups offer grants. Or you might find financial support from other sources. For example, grants through social care, or from charities and unions linked to the kind of work you’ve done, or where you live.

Other financial help

As well as disability benefits, there's other financial help out there that might make living with MS easier. Find out more about free public transport, disabled facilities grants, help with keeping warm in winter, prescription charges and dealing with debt.

Insurance

Most people would expect to have no trouble getting insurance to fully cover such eventualities. But for people with MS, that security is often either unavailable, prohibitively expensive, or inadequate for their needs.

Our local groups are starting to meet face-to-face again. We've made sure any activities can happen in a COVID-safe way.
