MS Peer Researcher Training Programme resources

Discover a ready-made training programme to help your MS peer researchers build their qualitative research skills.

What is peer research?

Peer research is a participatory research method. It involves people with lived experience of the issues under study in directing and carrying out research.

It aims to empower people to affect positive change by taking part in research about their own communities.

Peer researchers are also known as community researchers and help generate information about their peers for research purposes. They do this using their lived experience and understanding of a social or geographical community. They may contribute to research design, develop research tools, collect and analyse data, and share findings.

Peer research can also be called user involvement or service user research. For example, when researchers carry it out with users of a specific service as part of an evaluation.
