This comprehensive mapping exercise was commissioned and funded by Merck to better understand MS service resources and workforce across Wales’s seven health boards.

This report was commissioned by Merck to better understand MS service resources and workforce across Wales’s seven health boards.

To gain a better understanding of the MS service resources and workforce in Wales, regional MS service leads and representatives from each of the seven Welsh health boards agreed to map the workforce across MS specialist services in Wales and to explore the potential for future developments.

This report sets out the findings from this mapping exercise, including:

· An overview of the MS workforce and MS specialist care provision across Wales

· Health board specific MS workforce and specialist care provision with key insightsand gap analysis

· A set of key themes and future recommendations for improving and developing MS care and services in Wales

This report has been developed for Welsh MS services as a tool to benchmark current provision. This can be used to support business case development; ensure regional and national policy makers support clinical services; and enable best practice for MS care in Wales.

This mapping gives Wales a clear blueprint: where services are strong, where the gaps are, and how we can work together to build a more equitable, sustainable MS service for patients and families.
