
Items we can't accept in our shops
We're grateful for all donations to our shops but there are some items we can't accept.
This could be for one of the following reasons:
- safety
- hygiene
- legal
- wellbeing
- undesirability
Items we can't sell
Please do not donate these items. Disposing of them will cost money and divert funds away from people who need our help.
- Children's clothes with drawstring hoods (unless the drawstring has been removed)
- Used children's second-hand shoes (except Wellington boots, jellies and flip-flops)
- Nightwear without flammable warning labels
- Earrings for pierced ears or other body parts
- Prescription glasses
- Electric fires
- Oil heaters, petrol or diesel fuelled items
- Microwaves
- Mains or bottled gas appliances
- Computer hard drives
- All types of protective headgear
- Wheelchairs and wheeled walkers
- Four-wheeled mobility scooters
- Children's car seats and booster seats
- Child safety gates
- Bicycles
- Repainted cots
- Baby walking frames
- Door bouncers
- Baby slings
- Nursery furniture containing upholstery (unless the item complies with the Furniture and Furnishings Fire Safety Regulations 1988 and has the relevant label attached, or predates 1950)
- Used breast pumps and sterilisers
- Baby monitors
- Cot, crib or Moses basket mattresses
- Toys without the CE mark
- Firearms and ammunition
- Weapons and realistic toy weapons
- Pointed objects that can be used as weapons
- Flammable items such as barbecue lighting tools and firelighters
- Solvents and solvent-based products
- Cosmetics and scents (unless they are sealed in original packaging)
- Any goods infringing copyright law
- Pornographic publications, DVDs and videos
- Any DVDs not legally classified by the British Board of Film Classification
- Alcohol
- Cigarettes, tobacco and related products
- Drugs
- Foodstuffs
- Mattresses, pillows and quilts that aren't in new, unused condition
- Upholstered foam-filled furniture (unless the item complies with the Furniture and Furnishings Fire Safety Regulations 1988 and has the relevant label attached, or predates 1950)
- Items made of fur
- Items made of ivory
- Items made of bone
- Items made of turtle or tortoiseshell
- Items made from endangered species
- Prosthesis and dentures
- Religious items
- Official items such as police, emergency services or government identification
- Sex aids or sex toys
