Racism and riots in the UK
We are horrified by the anti-immigration and anti-Muslim attacks we’ve seen in the UK over the past week.
And while we’re heartened by the response from local communities last night, we know people in our community may still feel scared, upset and vulnerable. Some will be afraid to leave their homes and might worry about going to medical appointments, work or to events.
We stand with everyone affected. We condemn any form of discrimination and intimidation.
We’ve put together a list of places you can find support on this page.
Prioritise your safety and wellbeing
Please prioritise your physical and mental safety and wellbeing. We understand you might be feeling vulnerable, scared and unsafe. These are some sources of support:
- Call our MS Helpline for emotional support and information
- Get help with mental health on the Mind website
- Southeast and East Asian Centre resources
- Bayo.UK - a directory of services for Black communities
- Jamiuk.org - mental health support for Jewish people
Report hate crime
These are some of the ways you can report hate crime. Or get support if you’ve been a victim of hate crime.
- Report hate crime on Gov.UK
- Report online material promoting terrorism or extremism
- Islamophobia Support Unit - incident support and hate crime reporting
- Riot compensation (affected homes and businesses)
Advice for our volunteers and groups
We don't want our volunteers to carry out any duties where they feel unsafe.

The racism and violence we’ve seen is horrendous and has no place in our communities. As an organisation, we do not tolerate any form of discrimination, intimidation, bullying or harassment.
We want everyone in our community to feel safe. MS doesn’t discriminate and neither do we.
