We've been funding research at our Edinburgh Centre for MS Research since 2007. And in that time, it has grown into a world-leading hub for MS research.

The team of researchers have been working hard to improve our understanding of how nerves are damaged in MS, and turn that knowledge into new treatments that can slow or stop disability progression for people with progressive MS —our top research priority. We are grateful to our supporters who have made this work possible.

MS Society Edinburgh Centre for MS Research

We set up the Edinburgh Centre for MS Research in 2007 with generous support from the Volant Trust. Their aim is to speed up the discovery of treatments for people with MS.

Information and support for progressive MS

Primary progressive MS (PPMS)

Primary progressive MS affects about 10-15% of people diagnosed with MS. It has this name because from the first (primary) symptoms it is progressive. Symptoms gradually get worse over time, rather than appearing as sudden attacks (relapses).

Living with MS

MS is different for everyone. But there are ways to manage your symptoms and live well with the condition.

Our MS Helpline gives emotional support and information to everyone affected by MS. Give us a ring to chat about everything MS, or get help with benefits, legal advice and getting active.

Local support

Up and down the country, our local groups are on hand to provide friendship, support and information. Find your nearest group and check out our courses and other services.
