Chiropractic

With chiropractic treatment, a chiropractor uses their hands to help relieve bone, muscle and joint problems.

They might move your joints, muscles and spine to do this. This could involve quick movements and slow stretches.

Chiropractic therapy and MS

There's very little research into chiropractic therapy and MS. But research for people in general suggests it might help with joint and muscle issues, like back, neck or shoulder pain.

These kind of knock-on effects could happen if you're living with MS, for example if sitting for long periods affects your posture.

Chiropractic manipulation is usually well tolerated. But on rare occasions low back manipulation could cause damage the spine, and neck manipulation could cause strokes.

Speak to your GP or MS team if you're thinking of trying it.

Chiropractic therapy in the UK

Chiropractic medicine is regulated by law in the UK. All chiropractors must be fully qualified to practise and must register with the General Chiropractic Council who can provide a list of practitioners in your area.
