Share on social media to get your MP’s attention
Sharing on socials is a quick and easy way to get your MP’s attention and put pressure on them to speak out against disability benefit cuts.
Don’t forget to use social media to promote your activities and build support for your campaign. If you have permission, you can also share any photos of meetings you’ve had on your social media channels.
Think carefully about what you’re writing before you post it. You might want to run your posts by someone to make sure it’s clear and says what you want it to say.
Remember to tag the @mssocietyuk account in your posts so we can share them.
Find your MP’s handle
Search “[Your MP’s name] Twitter, Facebook or Instagram” online or check their official website. Pay special attention to posting on X, previously Twitter, where MPs are quite active!
Keep your message clear
Ask someone to check it before you post, if needed.
Types of posts
Post a message directly to your MP
Here's an example:
"@[YourMP'sHandle] Disability benefits are a lifeline, not a luxury for people with MS. Please speak up to stop the cuts and protect disability benefits. #stopthecuts @MSSocietyUK
Feel free to personalise it.
Post to share your activities
Share photos from MP meetings or other activities with permission. We’ve suggested a message for you to copy and paste but feel free to edit or use your own words if you prefer.
"I’ve asked my MP to speak up to stop the cuts and protect disability benefits. #stopthecuts @MSSocietyUK"
Tag @mssocietyuk so we can all raise our voice together!
