Disease modifying treatment (DMT) decision tool
Tell us what kind of treatment you’d prefer, together with a few other things that are important to you. This tool will suggest DMTs that might be a good match.
Not every DMT is available to everyone. And the tool can’t tell you which you qualify to get on the NHS. Your neurologist can tell you that after they’ve examined you and seen your MRI scans.

Who's this tool for?
You can use this tool if you live in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man and have:
- relapsing remitting MS
- some types of primary or secondary progressive MS
If you have progressive MS, it must be active MS to use this tool. ‘Active’ means your MRI scans show signs of recent inflammation. You might also still get relapses. If your progressive MS isn’t active, unfortunately there are no DMTs available at the moment. You also won’t qualify for a DMT if you use a wheelchair all the time.
Some people might not qualify for a DMT. If so, other treatments and lifestyle changes can help with your MS symptoms. Trials of new drugs for progressive MS are underway. Find out more about the trials taking us closer to treatments for everyone.
How long does the tool take?
You can finish it in about 15 to 20 minutes. Use it as many times as you like. It will suggest more DMTs if you give answers with fewer restrictions.
