Boccia at the Haven

The Paralympic sport of Boccia is played indoors with soft leather balls. It is related to bowls, but with all the competitors seated, so that wheelchair users can compete on equal terms. Players throw, kick or use a ramp to propel a ball onto the court with the aim of getting closest to a 'jack' ball.

Boccia is one of the few sports that caters for any level of functional ability. Taking part could improve your muscle strength and flexibility, and also your mental agility, as it is a sport of tactics and skill. It can be played by individuals or in teams, and offers an excellent opportunity to socialise.
