Comedian Ivo Graham announced as our new Ambassador

We’re delighted to announce stand-up comedian Ivo Graham as our new MS Society Ambassador.

Ivo’s TV appearances include Have I Got News for You, Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo. He’s supported us for a number of years as his mum Emma lives with MS.

A keen runner, Ivo has raised funds for our work by participating in the London and Brighton Marathons. He’ll take on his biggest challenge yet by running 50 kilometres on 30 April as part of The May 50K.

A great feeling of pride

On becoming an Ambassador Ivo says: “Being an MS Society Ambassador brings a great feeling of pride. Pride at being welcomed further into a community and on a project that that has meant a lot to me over the last few years. I’d like to do more that involves spending time with other members of the MS community.

“I still feel that my understanding of what it is to live with MS is very dominated by my own family’s experiences, which is understandable of course. But I think there is so much more I could learn and thanks to the MS Society it’s possible to learn that first hand. It has long meant a lot to my mum that I support the MS Society. And I think the news that there is likely to be a lot more of that, as an Ambassador, can only be good.”

Taking part in the 50k challenge

Ivo will complete his challenging 50 kilometre run in one day between performances at the Machynlleth Comedy Festival in Wales. He’ll be joined for sections of the route by festival goers and fellow comedians. Ivo says:

“Doing the May 50k in one go at the start of the month felt like an amusingly self-punishing way to do it. As well as being the first time in my life that I’ve ever done a task at the start rather than the end of the designated time frame.

“The Machynlleth Festival is in a stunning part of the world and full of other comedians I can emotionally blackmail into running some of it with me!”

Ambassadors play a vital role

Our Chief Executive, Nick Moberly, says: “We’re really excited to have Ivo join us as our new Ambassador. The MS Society is here for everyone affected by MS, and our Ambassadors play a vital role supporting our work – whether it’s raising vital funds, galvanising support for our campaigns, or driving research into new treatments.

“Ivo has already used his wonderful comedy and running ability to support us in the past and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future.”

You can support Ivo on his May 50k fundraising page.
