Telephone fundraising
Phone calls are one of the many ways we stay in touch with our supporters.
They give supporters an opportunity to ask us questions, share their thoughts and learn more about our work. And allow us to raise money to continue funding vital MS research and services for people living with MS.
We’re always monitoring the success of our fundraising campaigns. We want to make sure they’re as beneficial as possible for us.

How you can know a call is genuine
If you receive a call from us, it’s likely that you’ll be speaking to someone from our partner telephone agency, Ethicall.

Our fundraisers will only call if you’ve given your number to MS Society. They’ll never call from an unknown number. If you return the call, a message will tell you who called. And give you the option to opt out of the campaign.
At the start of the conversation, they’ll say their name. They’ll also tell you they’re calling on behalf of MS Society.
How you would be asked for a donation
If they ask you for a donation, they’ll give you information on:
- the cost of the fundraising campaign
- how much money it is expected to raise for MS Society
- the name of the agency they are calling from
If you don't want to give contact or bank details over the phone, you can request a paper form in the post. All Direct Debits created or updated on the phone are covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee. Calls may be recorded for training purposes.
How you can opt out of telephone calls from us
We rely on the support of generous people and organisations to help us continue our work. We embrace all forms of communication to reach different people. We understand that some people would prefer not to be called and we take care to record contact preferences.
