Spotlight on MS for the BBC's next Lifeline TV Appeal

Our MS community will star in the BBC's next Lifeline TV Appeal, broadcast on BBC One this Sunday 26 June.

Our BBC Lifeline TV Appeal broadcasts on BBC One on Sunday 26 June at 1.50pm. It repeats on BBC Two on Tuesday 28 June at 10.05am. After that it will be available on BBC iPlayer for three weeks.

We need your help to make sure it reaches as many people as possible!

We’re delighted Michelin-starred chef, Tom Kerridge, will present our Lifeline Appeal for us. Tom’s dad lived with MS, and sadly died when Tom was 18-years-old.

BBC Lifeline Appeal focus

Our Lifeline Appeal film will focus on three areas of our work: our MS Helpline, research, and the invaluable support provided through our local groups by volunteers around the UK.

We’re extremely grateful to everyone with MS who shared their stories for the appeal.

The impact of our research

We filmed with the Wood family in County Durham and they talked to us about how our research has impacted them.

Dad Stuart and his 18-year-old daughter Lucy both live with MS. Stuart spoke to us about the difference Botox injections for bladder management in MS have made to his quality of life. We funded the early research into this treatment.

The family also spoke emotionally about the hope our research offers them for the future.

Our MS Helpline is a lifeline

30-year-old Sasha from Birmingham features in the appeal. She has three young children and was only diagnosed with MS in 2019. She’s had amazing support from our MS Helpline.

She first called just months after finding out she had MS and was worried about her future. Sasha says they made her feel reassured and much calmer and she now often calls when she’s having a difficult day.

Supporting our community in Conwy and Denbighshire

Our Conwy and Denbighshire group from North Wales are also in the film. Val, the group coordinator talks about how the group supports people affected by MS through exercise classes and social meet ups.
