Benefits advice partnerships

The branch has begun funding of the equivalent of one day per month of a benefits advisor, with two local advice services.

In the Eastern part of our branch area, Disability Advice Service, East Suffolk is our partner. They will provide advice to people affected by MS to help them access benefits and social care from 1 October 2014.

For the Western part of our branch area we have partnered with the Mid-Suffolk Citizens Advice Bureau, this service will commence on 1 November 2014.

By funding these advisors, the branch hopes to improve access to benefits advisors for people affected by MS, particularly to enable people access government benefits. With the ongoing roll-out of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in place of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), many of our branch members will be affected and potentially require advice and assistance in claiming for PIP.

The advisors at our partners will be able to help complete the lengthy forms required for not only benefits such as PIP, ESA, Carers Allowance, Attendance Allowance, but also provide advice on other benefits and services. This will include such things as access to social care, housing benefit and much more.

When accessing these services please state that you are affected by MS, as this will enable you to access our funded services.
