What we do

We offer support and information to all those affected by MS, their families and carers in the area.

Support and information

Our Support Officer can arrange personal home visits to provide support and information on a wide variety of subjects such as:

  • Support and benefits issues
  • Information about MS
  • Holidays and respite care
  • Other local organisations which can provide help

We also hold a stock of MS Society publications.

Branch newsletter

We publish regular newsletters which go to branch members by post, or which can be emailed as Word files.

Contributions to the newsletter will be most welcome. Please submit your article by 26th of each month to Nicky Davies, who can also arrange to send it by e-mail.

The newsletter will also be available on the Branch Blog page as a pdf file.

Financial support

Our branch Support Officer and Grants Committee have funds available to assist members who do not have sufficient resources to purchase holidays, respite care, equipment and home adaptations.

We work closely with local Social Services and all requests for financial assistance are treated sympathetically and in strictest confidence.

Regular activities, events and social gatherings

We arrange regular activities such as:

  • art classes
  • exercise classes
  • swimming
  • conductive education
  • informal social gatherings
  • visits to local attractions

Family members, friends and carers are very welcome to join in with these activities and events.

Membership of the MS Society is only £5 per annum and for this you will receive six issues of the Society's magazine MS Matters, our monthly branch newsletter, and have the right to vote at our AGM.
