Searching for a suitable residential home can be time-consuming and stressful, as you’ll want to make sure you choose the right place, with the right care for you.

Paying for a residential care home

Most people are expected to pay at least part of the costs of their care home. Find out about financial assessment to work out how much you need to pay yourself, and what your local council will pay to make up the difference.

What is social care?

Social care is support you get from your local council. In Northern Ireland you get it from your local Health and Social Care Trust. It includes information, special equipment, changes to your home, someone to help with things like getting washed and dressed, support for carers, and residential care.
