About this event

Join us for our Managing Healthcare Appointments webinar where we will be joined by MS nurses, Jennifer McNeil and Razia Khan. Jennifer's career as an MS nurse started in 1997 at one of our respite centres. Razia has been an MS nurse for nine years. Both work on the MS Society Helpline team and offer support on the phone or email on a range of enquiries. These can be people living with MS, waiting on a diagnosis or with symptoms of MS, or enquiries from their family and friends. Jennifer and Razia can give you medical information on things like treatment options, medication side-effects, and managing symptoms, but not advice about your specific condition.

We’ll also be joined by a panel of our volunteers who live with MS who’ll be sharing ways to manage healthcare appointments. We’ll hear how to plan and prepare for appointments and how to work in partnership with your MS team.

What will I need to take part?

All you need to join in is a laptop/tablet/phone/computer with a stable internet connection to use Zoom, the video meeting software that we use.

How do I join the webinar?

Before the event, we will send you an email that will have a link to the webinar which is held via Zoom. The email will also tell you how to ask questions and make comments during the webinar. At the time the webinar is due to start, click on the link and you will be taken to the webinar. If the session hasn’t started you will see a message to tell you this. Just hang on and when the session starts you will see 2 or 3 people pop up on your screen.

What if I haven’t been sent the link?

We send an email with a link to everyone who completes the registration form on Eventbrite and books a place. The email we send might go into your spam or junk folder so please check before the meeting starts that you can find it.

When I join the webinar can other people see or hear me?

No, you can’t be seen or heard by other participants.

Can I ask questions?

Yes, usually you can ask questions and make comments. The facilitator will tell participants about how to do this. When there are more than 100 participants, our licence will only allow the first 100 people to ask questions during the event.

Please note we can’t respond or offer advice to questions about your specific circumstances or anything relating to your own personal health. Questions will be collated and we will try to cover your queries if not your specific question.

What should I do if I can no longer attend?

If you find that you are unable to take part please get in touch at [email protected] so we can offer up your place to someone else.

After the webinar you will be invited to take part should you wish in an informal chat session to discuss what you have taken away from the webinar.
