Running my first 10k for my husband and best friend

MS Superstar Sandra Russell had a brilliant time at the Great Scottish Run, running to help stop MS.

The atmosphere on the day was amazing. I ran with my sister Susan and sister in law Michelle – it was a first for both me and Susan.

But any nerves we had soon disappared. Most people were there to have fun and raise money for charities close to their hearts.

The MS Society Scotland is close to mine: my husband Craig has MS. Recently one of my best friends, Denise, was diagnosed too.

Girls just wanna run

Craig’s friends have been taking on lots of running events, and I thought it was about time the girls got involved. We trained every Saturday morning, building up from a walk to managing to jog most of the way. It was a great way to catch up for a gossip!

On the day, the run was made easier by our friends and family who cheered us round the course, and over the finish line. My mum ran alongside us at Broomielaw, trying to capture us on her ipad – priceless!

At the end we felt a great sense of achievement and even got a massage at the supporters tent. Our very generous friends and family helped us raise over £1,000
