Conversation Café: Family Life and MS

Our Conversation Cafés are new to 2022. Each month we'll explore a different topic. This month we'll be discussing family life with MS.

Event/service information

The conversation café will be hosted by a Living Well Facilitator. We'll be joined by one of our volunteers who has lived experience of MS and will get the conversation started.

The format of the café makes sure everyone has a chance to share their thoughts. Here's what to expect:

  • Check-in: Everyone offered the chance to check-in, sharing what the topic means to you
  • Respond: Everyone is offered the chance to respond to what they have just heard
  • Dialogue: The virtual floor is open for conversation
  • Final thoughts: Everyone has a chance to offer their final thoughts: what has challenged, touched or inspired you?

There is no pressure to speak, you can always pass on giving a comment.

Reflection journal

One week before our conversation café you will receive a reflection journal by email.

The reflection journal will give you a few questions to think about before the session. It can help to note down your ideas. If brain fog is something that impacts you, you’ll be coming along to the session with a memory jog.

There is also a section which will give you space to reflect afterwards on the session and perhaps note down things that you would like to follow up and try yourself.

What will I need to take part?

We use Zoom, a video meeting software for our events. So all you need to join is a laptop, tablet, phone or computer with a stable internet connection.

Download Zoom for free on their website

When I join the webinar can other people see or hear me?

No, you can’t be seen or heard by other participants.

Can I ask questions?

Yes, usually you can ask questions and make comments. The facilitator will tell participants how to do this. When there are more than 100 participants, our license will only allow the first 100 people to ask questions during the event.

Please note we can’t respond or offer advice to questions about your specific circumstances or anything relating to your own personal health. Questions will be collated and we will try to cover your queries if not your specific question.

What should I do if I can no longer attend?

If you're unable to take part, please email us at [email protected] so we can give your place to someone else.

And please keep an eye out for other Living Well services.
