Service Development in Wales

Sue Lloyd is service development officer for Wales and is supported by a team of volunteers.

Their remit is to work pro-actively with statutory, voluntary and independent providers to improve local health and social services for people affected by MS. To achieve this goal they bring together people affected by MS across Wales, Local Health Boards and others to deliver partnership projects. Often the MS Society provides significant financial support for these activities e.g. our MS Nurse fund has pump-prime funded more than 80 MS nurses in the past 5 years across England and Wales.

A significant amount of research and consultation has taken place in Wales over the past three years, focussing initially in Powys, and then widening their activities to cover the whole of Wales, ably assisted by a team of 'health and social care volunteers'. This work has culminated in a report (see below) which summarises their research findings and identifies agreed priorities for service development work within Wales. These priorities will be built into the MS Society Wales/Cymru Business Plan as it is taken forward.
