Our President

Professor The Baroness Ilora Finlay of Llandaff is a former Welsh Woman of the Year and was one of the "People's Peers" appointed to the House of Lords in 2001.

She was the UK's first female professor of palliative medicine and has held the visiting professorships at the University of Melbourne, Australia, and the University of Groningn in Holland.  She is currently Vice-Dean at the University of Wales College of Medicine.

Professor Finlay is considered a pioneer of palliative medicine in the UK which makes her appointment as President of Multiple Sclerosis Society Wales/Cymru particularly relevant in view of the Society's priority of addressing the needs of people most severely affected by MS.  She also has personal experiences of MS within her own family.

As well as her many other attributes, she is also Editor of 'Palliative Care Today' and author of 'Coping & Living in Pain'.
