MS Superstars fundraising guide

Is fundraising causing you problems? Are you worried about meeting your target? Well this page hopes to provide you with the support and suggestions to get your fundraising off the ground.

Here are some of the most useful ways to raise your sponsorship:

Justgiving.com

This online fundraising tool is one of the best ways to raise your sponsorship. It takes 2 minutes to set up a page, and you can then email the link to all your friends, family and colleagues who then donate online. People can even donate from overseas. It saves you from chasing people up at the end of your race, and even better the page collects all the gift aid as well! We can't recommend it enough! (p.s. we find that people donate more if they're using a credit card too!)

Matched Funds

Does your company offer a matched fund scheme, where they will match your fundraising efforts? Its always worth asking!

Sweepstakes

To make asking for money that bit more fun, why not start a sweepstake - what time do they think you will finish in? You can offer a prize to the winner, or ask them to double their donation if they win! Alternatively some people may offer to donate more if you do it in a quicker time than they think you will!

Donation per training session

This will encourage both you and your donor - the more training you put in, the more money they have to give!

Donation per mile

You could ask people to donate £1 / £2 per mile

Fundraising Party

Why not invite all your friends, family and colleagues to a fundraising bash - ask for a donation to attend, you could hold a raffle, an auction etc. Just make sure people know that its a fundraising party from the start!

Local Companies

They may be more supportive than you think. A personal letter, or even a visit in person asking for support is always worth a go. You could maybe ask local shops to donate drink or food for your fundraising party? In return you may want to offer to wear a t-shirt with their logo on?

There are plenty of ways to raise money, but if you're still struggling please call the Running Team for more advice. Alternatively you could post questions on various running websites for advice.
