The Shane Project

This group aims to support black and minority ethnic people affected by MS, including their family, friends and carers. The project is multi-cultural and open to everyone.

Princess Royal Trust for Carers

The Trust's web site has a section for black and minority ethnic carers with some very useful links.

Asian MS

One of the Society's National Support Groups. The group aims to raise awareness about MS within Asian communities and to provide support to Asians affected by MS, including their carers, friends and families.

Multi Cultural News

MS is often seen as a 'white' condition. However, a growing number of people from black and minority ethnic communities within the UK have MS. For family, friends and carers, it can be more difficult to find support due to a range of things such as language barriers and a lack of services that meet their cultural needs.

The MS Society's Diversity and Outreach Programme

For many years the MS Society has worked with a number of other neurological organisations to influence and support the development of services aimed at people with neurological conditions from black and minority ethnic groups. In 2007 the MS Society launched its own Diversity and Outreach Programme, led by David Lusk.

The Programme aims to build on the work of our support groups and to explore how the MS Society can better support the many people affected by MS from black and minority ethnic groups across the UK.

Towards Diversity: Good Practice Guide

This good practice guide is aimed at staff and volunteers working with Black, Asian and minority groups. It provides practical ideas and guidance, examples of tried and tested methods as well as information about how best to work with local faith and community groups.
