Estimating your own Memory Ability

Researchers at Brunel University, London are investigating how accurately people with MS can assess their own memory abilities. You do not need to be having day-to-day memory problems to be involved in the study.

• How do you know when you will forget something?
• If you need to use a memory strategy to help you remember something – how do you know which one is the best one to use?

These are questions that relate to how well we know our own memory and to how memory rehabilitation is planned.

However, little is known about what mental processes keep us aware of our memory abilities. This research study aims to investigate what factors contribute to accurate estimation of memory ability. Knowing more about these factors may improve memory rehabilitation in the future.

The Study

This study will involve completing a questionnaire that will be sent to you by post. This will be followed by a 90 minute session with the researcher.
