New research grants approved for funding
In summer 2008, the MS Society’s Board of Trustees approved funding of approximately £4.5 million for new research projects ranging from clinical trials to basic science in the field of multiple sclerosis (MS).
In line with the Society's research strategy, funding has been prioritised for key areas of research identified by researchers in the MS field and people affected by MS. These are ‘Mechanisms of nerve damage, repair and protection’, ‘Symptom relief research’ and ‘Evolving MS services research’. The MS Society also welcomed applications for research into our ‘Open strand’ available for any other area of research relevant to MS.
This section aims to give short summaries of each of the proposed grants which have been approved for funding from the spring grant round 2008. The autumn grant round is currently in progress and the Board of Trustees will be approving a further round of funding in December.
