What does the MS Society think about cannabis?

The MS Society believes that if cannabinoid-based medicines prove to be safe and effective in clinical trials, they should be made available on the NHS to everyone who may benefit.

We recognise that these medicines might only provide minor symptom relief, but this could be crucial to improving a person's quality of life. It may be all too easy to dismiss some of the small but significant impacts these drugs could have without considering the perspectives of people affected by the condition.

If cannabinoid-based medicines can safely provide relief from any symptom of MS they will not only improve the quality of life of people with the condition but also the people who care for them. The benefits of a drug that can restore some aspect of normal work and social life cannot be overestimated.
