Skipton and Craven Branch
We are a small branch – numbers, that is – but big on area and enthusiasm. We are a rural club covering the South Craven area of North Yorkshire – the area between Skipton and Cross Hills, although we have members from Bentham to the North, Ilkley to the east, south of Keighley in West Yorkshire and Barnoldswick and Foulridge which are in Lancashire.
The club is run entirely by a team of enthusiastic volunteers and we have about 45 members – a mix of people with MS and their families - and most join us for our monthly evening meetings.
We don’t have a permanent base: we hold these socials at a different place each time so at least once in the year they are near someone. Usually the meetings, on Wednesdays, are held in pubs, golf clubs or rugby clubs and we have a meal, a good natter, a quiz and a raffle.
Some of our members find evenings difficult so we have just started a monthly morning meeting for a chat over coffee.
