Newly Diagnosed

The MS Society can help you understand and cope with a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.
There is a tremendous amount of information available, so much that it can be confusing at first.
To try and make those things most relevant to someone who has just been diagnosed more easily available we have produced the Just Diagnosed Pathway which we hope will answer your most immediate questions and guide you to more detailed information.

Or, if you just need to talk to someone, phone the MS Helpline on 0808 800 8000. It's free, all calls are totally confidential, and they know how you may be feeling.

What we can do. (Quote from an MS Nurse)

"One of the most powerful tools in coming to terms with MS is knowledge and sharing of that knowledge. One of the most therapeutic activities in coming to terms with MS is realising that you are not as isolated and alone as you may have thought.

Our role as MS nurses is to absorb the initial shock waves from receiving the diagnosis, gently dismantle the denial strategy, and provide the resources that the person with MS needs to continue with their lives in hope, optimism and a sense of wellness that adapts to, and copes with, the realities of living with a fluctuating and unpredictable condition."
