Introduction
There are many people and organisations involved in the management of MS and the support of people with MS and their families and carers.
The purpose of this section is to direct you to who or what service you need, whether it is your local branch or the nearest centre with neurological facilities.

These are generally known as 'acute' services and cover neurological in-patient facilities (neurology wards, MRI scanners etc.) and out-patient facilities (neurological clinics, MS nurses, specialist therapies). Prescription of disease modifying therapies (e.g. beta interferon) will be organised from acute services. Rehabilitation can help people to cope more effectively with the symptoms of MS and can help to recover strength, skills and co-ordination. Rehabilitation services can be hospital or community based and generally will provide an outreach service to people in their own homes. Rehabilitation for people with MS may be provided at a neurological centre or by a small locally based team. Contact details for rehabilitation service can be downloaded by selecting the link below.

Social Services may be county based, metropolitan (i.e. city and surrounding district) or unitary (stand alone in a county council area). Local authority social services departments must publish information on available services and how to obtain them. They must work with the health services and local housing department, explaining who does what and the standards of services that can be expected.
