As part of the MS Society's organisational review, from 1st April 2005, there have been some changes made to staff job titles and responsibilities. In particular, the Branch Development Worker job title has changed to Local Support Development Officer (LSDO) and the Regional Support Co-ordinator has changed to 'Service Development Officer' (SDO). The two roles will continue to be based in the regions and to work closely together to improve local and national services for people affected by MS, whether delivered through the voluntary or statutory sectors.

  • The LSDO will work closely with the Thames Valley and Hants, Wilts & Islands regional committees to help ensure they achieve their aims. Working with the Local Support team at the MS National Centre, they will develop and support local branches.

  • The SDO will develop health and social care services in these regions by working with volunteers, service users and professionals with an interest in MS.

This will be done in partnership with the staff responsible for managing the MS Society National Programmes, such as the MS Nurse Fund. The SDO will be working as part of the Service Development team at the MS National Centre, which is part of the Research & Services Department.

These two roles have now been filled with the LSDO already in post and SDO starting in July.
