A major program is underway to transform the way support services for people affected by MS are delivered locally. Branchout sets out in detail a new menu of enhanced local services which the society will make available across the country, offers some guidance on how to go about realizing them and provides information on where to go for further support.
- The challenge - meeting individual needs.
MS is a variable and unpredictable condition, which affects people of all ages in many different ways. As a result the information and support needs of people affected by MS are also varied. Research shows that people want services, information and support directly aimed at them, whatever their circumstances. Ensuring that everyone in the country can access local services that meet their needs will not be easy. But it could help transform people's lives.
Unlike the branch Essentials, it is not down to the individual Branches to provide every single activity listed in the new menu of services. We will know that we have achieved our aim when all people affected by MS can easily access the particular support they need, within a reasonable distance of where they live. We will therefore look beyond Branch boundaries to larger geographical areas and delivering the news service is will be achieved in a number of ways.
This would include: - Collaborative working between neighbouring branches.
- Close working between Braun choose and say region.
- Partnership working with health professionals, other charities and organizations.
- Widely promoting relevant services, whether provided by the MS society or others.
To achieve our aims and transform local support services we must work together to BRANCHOUT into the wider MS community.
