Are you paying for your treatment?

measuring out of pills into a bottleA review of policy relating to patients who choose to pay privately for drugs or treatments not funded on the NHS is being led by Professor Mike Richards, National Cancer Director at the Department of Health. Currently, some patients are required to pay privately for drugs not funded on the NHS and as a result, are required to pay for the NHS care that they would otherwise have received for free.

If you are one of these patients or simply have a view on the current system, then please get in touch by filling out the MS Society's questionnaire (51 kb) [doc].

If you are paying for any of the following treatments not available on the NHS then please tell us about your experience before Monday 18th August 2008

Treatments either not available or only part available on the NHS for people with MS:

  • Campath
  • Sativex
  • Botox

Starting and finishing at Manchester Central, where MS Life was taking place, the route took participants around Manchester city centre and passed Albert Square, Manchester Cathedral, the Urbis Centre and many more sights.

Wheel & Walk included an appearance from former professional footballer Danny Wallace, who started the event, while MS Society Chairman, Tony Kennan, welcomed the participants.
