Younger people have different approaches to ways of dealing with their MS and Blackburn and District and Blackpool Fylde & Wyre Branches have recognised this and both have groups for younger people affected by MS.
Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre's group is called 'Young and Optimistic Living with Multiple Sclerosis'.
This younger persons group acts as extra support with people of the sameish age - going through similar issues - and still being able to have some fun!
Contact details are: Estelle Blackman on 01253 781972 or estelle.blackman@virgin.net
Blackburn's group is called 'OASIS'. They meet up once a month so that younger members can get together and support each other and share information. Most of the time we just have a chat and a laugh.
The meet ups (meetings sound too formal, something that this definitely is not) take place in a pub or café and are mostly in the evening.
We have met in Blackburn, Burnley and Accrington but are happy to welcome people affected by MS from further afield.
Anyone wishing to join us can contact Margaret Heap on 01254 381357 or at: margaretheap@mssocietyblackburn.co.uk
