Leigh Atherton Tyldesley

Built on and around seven brooks, Atherton has a long industrial past with a history of mining, mills, and nail manufacturing. Formby Hall hosts an annual beer festival entitled the Bent and Bongs Beer Bash, the last weekend in January.

Tyldesley (pronounced "tilds-lee" is situated seven miles south-east of Wigan. The steep terraces branching off the main streets give the town a distinctive character.
