About Us
The Herts and Essex region is one of the 16 regions of the Multiple Sclerosis Society in England and Wales, and is made up of 13 local
Branches.
Each year the
Committee sets out an ambitious plan which works towards fulfilling the Nine Regional Aims (see below). The Committee, all volunteers, meets four times a year to review progress.
The region also produces a regular
Newsletter to keep both Branch and National MS Society members and volunteers up-to-date with News and Events.

Julie Simmons, (pictured) the Local Support Development Officer (LSDO) works alongside the Regional Committee to maintain and improve the standards and effectiveness of delivery of service from the MS Society to everyone affected by MS across the region.
To further the Regional Aims a number of Events are organised each year. Two Carers' Forums, a Young People's Information Day and the Spring and Autumn Conferences were particularly well received this year.
The nine aims of the regions are to help the Society and its volunteers do the following things better:
- Ensure that the needs of people with MS are communicated to health and social services
- Campaign on behalf of all people with MS
- Provide practical support to branches in the region
- Promote common standards of service for people with MS
- Co-ordinate regional projects and activities
- Help to support and attract volunteers
- Explore joint fundraising initiatives
- Make the most of regional resources
- Share information and experience within the region
