MS Support Groups
The MS Society has 3 National support groups: Asian MS, GLAMS and Mutual Support.
The East Midlands region has its own support network for young people. See below for links to Emyams.
These groups provide a contact and support network for people who have a shared background, lifestyle or interest. Find out more about the support groups below.
Emyams is the East Midlands' very own support network for young poeple with MS. We aim to be able to get you in touch with other young people with MS near you, provide you with the support you need and the events you want, and provide you with access to information, group meetings and outings. It's a good way to learn more about how to deal with everyday life as a young person with MS, from other young people with MS.
MS is typically diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40, but the symptoms of MS can begin at any age. It is estimated that about 5% of people with MS develop symptoms in childhood or adolescence.
Asian MS is a national support group for Asian people with MS, their carers, friends and family.
Mutual Support is a national support group for people in the Armed Forces open to all personnel irrespective of rank or grade, whether still serving, ex-serving or a dependant, who have an association with MS.
GLAMS was founded in March 1996, with the help of the MS Society and is a self-help group of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender people with MS.
