Bury St Edmunds is officially called St Edmundsbury, but locally known as Bury. It is the home of the famous Abbey and a very impressive Cathedral.

The Bury Branch covers the West Suffolk area, including Thetford, Brandon, Lakenheath, Mildenhall, Clare and Sudbury.

The Branch organises a wide range of activities and has groups which meet socially on a monthly basis in Bury, Great Cornard and Thetford. Details of dates, times and venues can be found on the branch web site on the link below. Why not take a look at the branch monthly newsletter, also available from this link?

The Branch recently conducted a survey of members to find out how they want the Branch to move forward and the results are attached here.

Motomed-athon

Motomedothon Feb 2010
For 24hrs over the weekend of 12/13th February 2010, the Branch held a Fundraising Spectacular in the foyer of the Disability Resource Centre in Bury St Edmunds.

Thirty plus members and friends cycled away the time on 4 MotoMed therapy machines in order to raise funds for a new electric standing frame for use by our members. Sponsorship monies are coming in and we hope to raise over £1000 towards the cost of the standing frame (£4,500).

Branch Support Officer, Ian Hammond, would like to thank all those who took part and cycled or supported the event. More pictures can be seen on the Bury St Edmunds MS Facebook group, especially the “party crowd” on Friday night/Saturday morning.

Thanks must also go to the staff at the DRC and Medimotion Ltd who supplied an extra loan cycle for the event. Don’t forget that the cycle is available for use by anyone affected by MS at the DRC, (booked in advance.) You must bring a helper/carer with you. Contact the DRC on 01284 748888 to book your session.
