The
North Cheshire - (Trafford) Branch includes the areas of Stretford, Urmston and Altrincham.
Stretford has a long association with Manchester United Football Club, which calls one end of its Old Trafford ground the Stretford End. The main shopping centre in the town is 'Stretford Mall' in the centre of Stretford. The Bridgewater Canal runs through Stretford (parallel to the tram tracks).
Urmston encompasses the smaller suburb of Davyhulme and the village of Flixton. It lies 6 miles (10 km) from Manchester City Centre, on the River Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal.
Altrincham lies approximately eight miles south-west of the city of Manchester. In and around the town are a number of local beauty spots including 18th-Century Dunham Massey Hall (owned by the National Trust) with its deer park. Altrincham is hugely popular with sports stars, this could be due to the lively and varied nightlife on offer!
