The main shopping centre in the town is 'Stretford Mall' in the centre of Stretford. The Bridgewater Canal runs through Stretford (parallel to the tram tracks).

In and around the town are a number of local beauty spots including 18th-Century Dunham Massey Hall (owned by the National Trust) with its deer park. Altrincham is hugely popular with sports stars, this could be due to the lively and varied nightlife on offer!
