Tameside, Glossop & District

Tameside originated in the 1970's, when nine separate towns were joined together as a single borough. It is surrounded by the Pennines to the east, Oldham to the north, Stockport to the south and Manchester to the west.

Glossop nestles in the foothills of the Pennines and is the largest town within the borough of High Peak. Lying to the west of the Peak District national park, Glossop is about 13 miles east of the city of Manchester and 24 miles west of the city of Sheffield.

In recent years, Glossop has become quite well known musically, for staging Jazz Festivals and Global Music Festivals.
