MS Society releases new advertising campaign
21 Apr 2009
The MS Society has launched it’s new ‘Putting the Pieces Together’ advertising campaign which is based on the theme of this year’s MS Week – misconceptions.
The six adverts use real people with MS as models and aim to target misconceptions concerning symptoms, age of diagnosis and the incorrect assumption that MS is a terminal condition.
The adverts will be printed in newspapers and magazines and on billboards and poster sites across the UK from this week.
Read about the lives of our models below.
Sue's story – It was when Sue was hurriedly planting bulbs in her garden on a Sunday afternoon that she experienced her first symptoms of MS.
Lucy's story – Waking up after her 25th birthday celebrations Lucy found she had pins and needles down the left side of her body. She’d been experiencing strange, unexplained symptoms for a number of years but thought nothing of them.
Danny's story – Danny was in his 20’s and at the top of his game playing professional football for Manchester United when he first starting experiencing symptoms that would eventually lead to a diagnosis of MS.
Grace's story – When Grace Rodgers couldn’t feel the clothes on her body she decided something was wrong and she needed to visit her doctor.
Stuart and Lucy's story – Stuart Wood, age 40, was diagnosed with MS in 1996; his daughter Lucy, age 5, was diagnosed in August 2008.
Ian's story – Ian had been experiencing a variety of unexplained symptoms for years, but when he started experiencing blurred vision in his left eye he decided a trip to the doctors was necessary.
