Living with MS Waltham Abbey

Date: 2nd December 2006

Location: Waltham Abbey Marriott Hotel

Living with MS in Waltham Abbey was an enjoyable and informative information day for people with MS and their carers held at the Waltham Abbey Marriott Hotel. Over 100 people learned about living with MS and also had the opportunity to share information and experiences with other people affected by MS.

The day included sessions on:
  • Fatigue management in MS (Debbie Hartland and Gillian Stevens)
  • Carers caring for themselves (High Marriott, author of 'A Selfish Pig's Guide to being a Carer')
  • Employment, Benefits and your rights (Paul Weaver)
  • Exercise and MS (Kim Zouhar, the Superintendent Physiotherapist at the Herts and Essex Hospital)

Other features:

  • There was a welcome and introduction from Pam Little, the MS Society's Herts and Essex Regional Chair and a presentation on the 'Facts about MS' from Giles Erlington MD RFCP, a consultant neurologist.
  • A session regarding Fatigue Management in MS, by Debbie Hartland (MS Specialist OT) and Gillian Stevens, Occupational Therapist. This had interesting approaches on how to deal with fatigue in everyday living.
  • A breakout session called Carers caring for themselves held by Hugh Marriot, Author of 'A Selfish Pig's Guide to Caring'. More information on Carers can be found on the Carers section of our website.
