MS Society AGM 2006
More than 250 of our members attended the MS Society’s 52nd AGM on the 7th & 8th October at the Renaissance Hotel at Heathrow.
Delegates heard about our achievements during 2005, attended the launch of our annual report and accounts and voted on four resolutions.

The weekend was also an opportunity for us to talk to our members about our work and our plans for the future. Presentations included a look at branch support, MS Society grants, and the role of service development.

A short ceremony to hand out prizes for two important award programmes also took place after the AGM. The Partnership Awards recognise outstanding examples of partnership working between volunteers and professionals. The Innovation and Achievement Awards recognise the achievements of outstanding volunteers, who are leading the way in transforming local support and services.

Dr Eli Silber, a consultant neurologist from King's College in London gave the Sir Richard Cave Memorial Lecture on Sunday 8 October, on the subject of ‘Epidemiology and Ethnic Patterns of MS’.

Also on Sunday there were further sessions attended by the delegates.
Making more of our Money - A session focusing on a number of priority areas where more money could make a big difference to people affected by MS.
Respite Care - Followed by Campaigns - A session looking at the rights of people affected by MS , the Society's provision of Respite care, and Influencing and Campaigning on these issues.
Developing Local Services - Followed by Fundraising - Building on Saturday's launch of local support, the session focused on practical ideas and experiences.
