Follow the ancient flag-stoned Inca trail from the old city of Cusco, the capital of the once mighty South American Inca Empire, through the Sacred Valley, and on to the lost city of Machu Picchu.

Your trek begins in Cusco, where you are offered the first taste of the Inca world.
The next morning you'll head out to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a wide fertile valley that was the empire's agricultural heartland.
Following the Urubamba River, you continue to Ollantaytambo, a living Inca town. You continue along the Cusichacha River, slowly ascending into the mountains until you reach Llulluchapampa, with Mt. Huayanay providing a wonderful backdrop.
Day 6 is long and hard as you have three high passes to cross.
What goes up most some down, and so your descent pushes towards the final destination, the lost city of Machu Picchu.
