14 December 2008 to 31 January 2009, South Pole
On the 14th of December 2008 the team is setting out for the South Pole and will be racing for the month of January! This involves skiing 520 miles up through crevasse fields onto the Antarctic plateau and across to the geographic South Pole at nearly 10,000ft, pulling pulks loaded with all our survival equipment.
In the last few years the team has carried peace messages to the far and high places of the Earth in the ancient Tibetan spirit of flying prayer flags to bring peace and harmony to all beings.
The Southern Lights Team are doing the race in aid of the MS Society, and in honour of a friend who has MS.
'It seems to us that the MS Society embodies the heart-warming and essential principal of offering compassionate help to those who have been dealt the hand of an extra struggle in life, that of MS.'
You can learn more about their epic journey or sponsor the team via their Justgiving page.
