How we decide what we fund
We believe in good science to help us beat MS.
We invest millions of pounds into high quality research to develop new treatments and improve care.
People with MS play a central role in deciding what research we fund.
We involve people with MS and world-class scientists to help us fund the best and most relevant research.

Research is a long process, and it takes time to move from laboratory studies, to clinical trials, to approval and licensing of a drug. It can take years or even decades to develop an idea and turn it into a treatment.

Research based on scientific evidence, where a treatment is rigorously tested in clinical trials with large numbers of people, is the best way of finding out whether a treatment is having a real effect, and whether it is safe.

The Research Network helps us make sure that the research we fund reflects the needs and interests of people living with MS. It also helps us make sure we are communicating research in a way that’s accessible to everyone in the MS community.
