Major charities call for pause on Welfare Reform Bill

The MS Society, along with other major charities, have today urged the Government to pause the Welfare Reform Bill and carefully consider the future of Disability Living Allowance (DLA). 

Following last week’s Spartacus report highlighting serious flaws in the Government’s plans, we’ve joined fifteen organisations to issue a joint statement, printed in today's Guardian. DLA helps over 69,000 people with MS; the reform bill is in the final stages of its Parliamentary passage, but the details of how it would affect disabled people has not been fully investigated.

It has also been revealed today that the proposed changes will lead to 500,000 disabled people no longer being eligible for the benefit.
