If you are a health, social care or local authority professional and work with people and families affected by MS, join us at our regional MS Professionals Conference to find out how you could develop new services for people living with MS. 

We'll be showcasing innovative practice across health and social care that's helping people with MS to maintain independence, choice and control of their lives, including:

  • Dr Michael Douglas, Dr John Curnow and Dr Jill Brooks, discussing what’s new in MS research

  • MS Society showcase: how professionals and patients can get more involved in research 

  • Find out how the neurological commissioning support service (NCS) is helping commissioners deliver QIPP in Neurology

  • Learn how Stoke on Trent Joint Commissioners are exploring new ways of delivering support for people with neurological conditions through an innovative Independent Social Work Practioner Post 

There will be workshops exploring support planning, self management, well being and exercise, and an exploration of specialist roles in a multi disciplinary team:

Workshop 1 - “Providing Support – Personalised MS Care Planning”

Showcase: Live in Care Options, Support Grants, Support Planning Tools, Personal Health Budgets Pilot for MS Patients. 

Facilitators: Helping Hands, The MS Society Grants Team, Birmingham Health and Well Being Partnership, MS Society Regional Support Team Mentor and Personal Health Budget Regional MS Volunteer 

Workshop 2 – “Promoting Health and Well being – self management and MS”

Showcase: “MS Mondays” Well Being Activity Days, Disabled Gym Partnerships, TeleHealthcare options. 

Facilitators: Local Support and Development Officer MS Society, Queen Alexander College, Birmingham, Birmingham City Council. 

Workshop 3 – “Medicine Management in MS – New treatments and supporting people within a multi disciplinary team” 

Showcase: Nurse prescribing, care closer to home, role of specialist pharmacist, education and awareness, promoting a multi disciplinary team approach, research networks and emerging therapies. 

Facilitators: Dudley Group of Hospitals MS Specialist Nurse and Pharmacist with Specialist Interest in Neurology, Research Team MS Society
