I want an Accredited Branch Website...

A branch website lets you reach out to people in your community publicising information to a wide audience, most of who will have specifically searched for that information. A lot of people go online as their first point of reference. The Internet also allows an element of anonymity for someone to find out about your branch, without feeling obliged to commit in any way.

All that is needed is an editor who is interested in developing good online content. They don’t have to be particularly technical, but they will need a computer with broadband Internet access. Anyone who has edited paper newsletters might be interested. We give full training either here at the National Centre (London) or we come to you. Web editors have a great deal of technical support from us here at the national centre, from their regional editor, there is even a discussion board on our website just for editors and we are starting a eNewsletter for branch editors this year.. It costs nothing to set this up, or maintain, as there are no ongoing costs. Around 40% of branches have successfully signed up so far, why not join them?

When someone with MS looks on the MS Society website to get information about their local branch, and they come across a site like this www.mssociety.org.uk/nottingham

it helps them to feel that they are not alone, that there are people who live near them and who understand what they are going through. Having an up to date calendar of events also helps people to feel connected.
